Attorney

Represent clients in criminal proceedings including arraignment, revocation hearings, pretrial hearings, plea negotiations, trial and sentencing. Attorneys are responsible for maintaining effective attorney-client relationships and are supervised by District Defender.

Applicants must be licensed to practice law in the State of Louisiana and be in good standing. Applicants must be interested in working with individuals charged with criminal offenses from diverse backgrounds and possess the ability to communicate effectively with clients, witnesses, colleagues, staff and court personnel orally and in writing.

Legal Assistant

Assist attorneys in representation of persons charged with criminal offenses and in child in need of care cases. Must have high school diploma, excellent communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office. Please submit resume with references to be considered.

Intern

Work in partnership with staff attorney in representation of persons charged with criminal offenses, assist District Defender with special projects. We can work with educational institutions for class credit and accept applications year-round.
